DUBLIN -- On her first royal engagement with a foreign leader, the Duchess of Sussex has proven she’s more than up to the job.

Meghan and Harry touched down in Dublin on Tuesday evening, after a busy day marking the RAF centenary, and were shortly afterwards whisked off to meet the Taoiseach Leo Varadkar.

The Irish PM showed the couple around the grounds of the government buildings before the group went inside for a meeting.

Afterwards when Meghan and Harry bid goodbye to Mr Varadkar, the duchess proved she was more than up to the task of meeting with a foreign leader on an official royal visit (as if anyone ever had any doubts) by confidently extending her hand out to shake hands with the Taoiseach before her husband did.

The former Suits actress held a lengthy handshake while she chatted to the Prime Minister before Harry said goodbye. The gesture appeared to be another example of the much welcomed modern ways and equal footing of this royal couple.

Meghan paid homage to the Emerald Isle by opting for an olive green Givenchy dress for the couple’s first official joint overseas visit, which was at the request of the UK government. She paired the dress with a tan bag by Strathberry (specifically, the Midi Tote Tan Bridle Leather bag now sold out but similar are still available), the Scottish accessories brand she has worn on more than one occasion.

Later on this evening, the couple will attend a summer garden party at the residence of the British Ambassador before meeting the Irish President, Michael Higgins, on Wednesday morning as well as numerous other engagements.
