Prince Harry and Meghan visited the official residence of President Michael D Higgins and wife Sabina at Áras an Uachtaráin this morning, with the royal couple going out into the garden with the dogs, Bród and Síoda, for a walk around the grounds.

The Duke and Duchess also rang the Peace Bell, designed to mark the 10th anniversary of the Belfast Agreement.

Meghan looked elegant in a taupe Roland Mouret dress teamed with a pair of black velvet court shoes and a Fendi handbag.

At the end of their meeting, President and Sabina were accompanied by their dogs to say goodbye to the Duke and Duchess, with the royal pair stroking and hugging their new fluffy friends.

Harry was even spotted pointing at one of the canines and looking as though he was giving one a firm talking to.

Kensington Palace later tweeted on behalf of the newlyweds: 'Thank you to the President of Ireland Michael D. Higgins, Mrs Higgins (and Bród and Síoda!) for the warm welcome at Áras an Uachtaráin.'

The Duke and Duchess arrived in Ireland yesterday afternoon, after attending a service to celebrate the centenary of the RAF at Westminster Abbey.

They are due to visit Trinity College and the CHQ in the city centre later on today.
