The Queen will have tea with President Donald Trump and the First Lady at Windsor Castle on Friday (13 July) during Trump's controversial UK visit.

Buckingham Palace has released details of the Queen and Trump's scheduled meeting, which will involve Her Majesty welcoming Trump and Melania at the dais in the quadrangle of the castle.

A Guard of Honour, formed of the Coldstream Guards, will give a Royal Salute and the US National Anthem will be played. The 92-year-old monarch and the President will inspect the Guard of Honour before watching the military march past.

Trump and Melania will then join Her Majesty for tea at the castle, the palace has confirmed.

The Queen has previously met three other US Presidents at Windsor, including President Barack Obama with Michelle Obama in 2016, President George W. Bush with Laura Bush in 2008, and President Ronald Reagan with Nancy Reagan in 1982.

During Obama's 2016 visit, the former President met with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry for a dinner at Kensington Palace.

Trump and Melania's upcoming engagement will not be welcomed with the pomp and pageantry of a state visit due to planned protests scheduled across London and beyond. All of his meetings with officials have been arranged away from the seat of government in the capital, so he will most likely avoid any clashes with the public.

Trump will arrive at Stansted airport on Thursday, before visiting the US Ambassador's Residence at Winfield House in Regent's Park.

He will then leave London to attend a gala at Blenheim Palace. On the Friday, the US President will meet with Theresa May at Chequers, join the Queen at Windsor Castle, before flying to Scotland's Turnberry resort for golf.

The Queen has met 11 out of 12 serving US Presidents during Her Majesty's reign (President Johnson being the only one not met by the monarch).
