The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have decided to delay telling Prince George that he may one day be king, a royal biographer has revealed. The reason for this is that the family want to keep the youngster's life as normal as possible for as long as they can.
'With George they are trying to delay that moment of realisation and give him normality before they thrust this on him,' Catherine Mayer – author of Charles: The Heart of a King told E! News.
William's experiences as a youngster are said to have led to this decision, with him feeling like he was made aware of the responsibility and pressure of his role from too young an age.
While it certainly makes sense that Kate and William would want George to have a normal childhood, it will also be impossible for the family to shelter him from the truth for long. The young prince is already at school mixing with children who may well be aware of his royal title – and it won't be long before he is able to comprehend how different his family life is to that of his school friends.
'It will be, nevertheless, part of his upbringing both in terms of what he sees his parents and grandparents doing and probably quite soon a beginning of an understanding that he is in public life and what that means,' Mayer added.
