If you were meh about this year’s MTV Video Music Awards purely based on the nominees alone (looking at you, Swifties), I have excellent news that could change that: Jennifer Lopez will 100 percent be at the show to pick up a little trophy otherwise known as the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Awards, NBD.

MTV announced the news via Facebook Live on Tuesday, along with the confirmation that J.Lo will perform at the VMAs, which definitely, maybe means an epic dance sequence, right?

This is hard to believe but the performance will be J.Lo’s first at the VMAs since 2001. 2001! That’s the year the first Harry Potter film came out and more importantly, when Britney and Justin wore his-and-hers denim ensembles to the AMAs. But back to J.Lo.

If you don’t remember her performance after all these years, here’s a refresher on the time J.Lo and her abs danced up a storm for a full minute before belting out “I’m Real” with Ja Rule:

J.Lo, who has 21 VMA nominations to her name (and two awards), is up for two moon persons this year for her DJ Khaled and Cardi B collab, “Dinero.” Her Vanguard title will put her in an elite group that includes Rihanna, Beyoncé, Madonna, Kanye West, and last year’s recipient, P!nk.

If MTV decides to hand out a bonus award on Aug. 20, please give it to J.Lo’s VMAs performance, which will no doubt be pure fire and put everyone else’s performances to shame. I mean, have you seen the “Dinero” video?
