About a month ago, Forbes released a cover announcing that the littlest Kardashian/Jenner sister is thisclose to being worth one billion dollars. So, it makes sense that the makeup mogul would go all out for her 21st birthday celebration. A vintage Rolls Royce? Check. A bodysuit covered in 70,000 Swarovski crystals? Yup. A butt-grazing blonde ponytail worth $8,000—uhh, come again?!

According to an interview with Refinery29, the extension artist responsible for Kylie's custom 30-inch ponytail, Violet Teriti, used 400 grams of Slavic hair from Russia. The price Teriti typically charges for a weft like this is between $6,000 (£4,714) and $6,285. Casual.

But why is this particular kind of hair so expensive, you might be wondering? Teriti explains it like this: 'There's nothing better than [Slavic] hair because it's the only hair that doesn't need to be bleached and processed so many times, or even toned and glossed—it's naturally already highlighted.'

That kind of money might be a lot to mere plebeians like you and me, but for Kylie, that's pennies! Dropping £6,285 on hair is the equivalent of you or me paying for a morning latte. On second thought, I always complain about coffee being expensive, so scratch that. You know what I'm trying to say.

That said, Kylie isn't the only Kardashian/Jenner splurging on extensions. Sisters Kim and Khloé also regularly work with Teriti for their custom lengths ever since Kim came across Teriti's work a year ago. So, if you've noticed some similarities in Kim, Khloe, and Kylie's hair looks lately, it's not just because they're sisters.
