News of Kanye West's post-broadcast pro-Trump rant on SNL and his posts defending the President (and calling to abolish the 13th Amendment) have attracted significant media attention today. Both Lana Del Rey and Chris Evans spoke out against West. And now sources are making it clear to both People and E! that West's beliefs are not Kim Kardashian's.
A source told E! that Kim is not surprised about West's rant. "This is who he is and she knew that when she married him," the source said. "He's always been controversial and can ruffle feathers. Kim's not surprised in the least bit. Kanye loves to speak his mind and that's not going to change. Whether or not Kim shares the same beliefs, she knows she's never going to stop Kanye from expressing himself."
People had two interesting reports come in regarding Kardashian's reaction: first, in a report published at 12 p.m. today, a source told the outlet that Kardashian actually likes Trump and didn't feel bothered by what West said. “She didn’t seem like anything, she was just watching,” a source said. “Trump’s been good to them so it seems they do really love him, even Kim. They all hung out for a bit afterward.” (Kardashian, of course, has met with the Trump administration twice to advocate for criminal justice reform.)
Then, in a report published shortly before 5 p.m., another source told People that actually, Kardashian is embarrassed by what West said because of the criticism it has provoked. “Having all this backlash against Kanye is embarrassing for her and her family, but she will never say that,” that source said. “She supports Kanye through and through and truly does think her husband is entitled to his own opinion.”
