There's been a lot of royal news recently what with Princess Eugenie's wedding, the Duchess of Sussex's pregnancy and, now, the birth of Pippa Middleton's first child.

One person who seems particularly over the slew of royal news is BBC newsreader Simon McCoy who, on Tuesday afternoon [16 October] as news broke of the arrival of a baby boy for Pippa and her husband James Matthews, stifled some laughs before wearily announcing to viewers:

'Within 24 hours of some royal baby news, I've got some more... ummm... Pippa Middleton, sister of course of Kate, has given birth. It says here, given birth to a baby, um yeah... so, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge say they're thrilled for Pippa and for her husband, James.

'So, congratulations fr0m all of us to Pippa and James on the birth of a baby," he finished, interspersed with some laughs.

McCoy's bulletin on the latest royal news was true to form. Ever since the birth of Prince George in 2013, McCoy has built up somewhat of a reputation for himself for his news coverage of royal babies.

Previous examples of his uninspired royal announcements include waiting outside the Lindo Wing for the birth of George while telling viewers: 'Plenty more to come from here of course... none of it news, of course, because that will come from the Palace. But that won't stop us, we'll see you later.'

Another classic was when an update of the Duchess of Cambridge's third pregnancy was given. This time last year, viewers saw McCoy reveal the royal baby was expected in April, while he muttered: 'bearing in mind they announced that she was pregnant back in September, when it was thought she was around two/three months pregnant, I'm not sure how much news this really is'.

As per, viewers loved McCoy's lacklustre presenting of the Pippa news on Twitter:

We look forward to more Simon McCoy royal baby coverage over the next six-ish months!
