Emma Stone truly had to suffer for (film) fashion while shooting The Favourite, all because of that corset she had to wear. Stone opened up about the crazy thing the garment did to her body on the Graham Norton Show this week.

'Women existed like that for such a long time, which gives you a lot of sympathy for that time period and what they were going through,' she said, per Daily Mail. 'For the first month, I couldn't breathe, and I would smell menthol and it would make me think I was in a wide-open space and could breathe for a moment in time. After a month, all my organs shifted—it was gross, and if you don't have to, don't do it!'

Stone was likely wearing the corset for over two months, as filming reportedly lasted from March to May 2017. She's not the first actress, either, to talk about what an ordeal wearing a corset is. Lily James wore one while shooting Cinderella and was solely on a liquid diet when shooting in it for comfort and courtesy.

'When it was on, we'd be on continuous days,' James told E! in March 2015. 'And in that case, I couldn't untie the corset, so if you ate food, it just didn't really digest properly, and I'd be burping all afternoon in [Prince Charming actor] Richard [Madden]'s face and it was just really sort of unpleasant. So I'd have soup so that I could still eat.'
