Kim Kardashian made it clear earlier this week during her appearance on Watch What Happens Live that her and Taylor Swift's feud is long done to her. She'd pick being stuck in an elevator with Swift over being stuck in one with Drake, whom Kimye currently has beef with. When asked directly by Andy Cohen what the status of the Swift feud is, Kardashian replied, 'Over it. No [I haven’t had any communication with Taylor], I feel like we’ve all moved on.'
But for anyone who didn't see the show or the articles covering what Kardashian said in it, Kardashian posted another subtle statement on her and Swift on her Snapchat. In a video of herself posted yesterday, Kardashian has Swift's song 'Delicate' on in the background.
There's a lot of weight to this little move.
First, there's the choice of platform: Snapchat was where Kardashian released all her receipts of Swift and West discussing the lyrics to his song 'Famous.' Swift said she didn't get a heads up about its lyrics about her (namely 'I made that bitch famous') before its release; Kardashian's Snapchats were Kardashian's way of calling bluff on that—although Kardashian did not share any footage of Swift approving the line 'I made that bitch famous.'
Swift’s publicist released a statement before Kardashian put up the videos clarifying what happened. 'Kanye did not call for approval, but to ask Taylor to release his single ‘Famous’ on her Twitter account,' Swift’s rep said at the time. 'She declined and cautioned him about releasing a song with such a strong misogynistic message. Taylor was never made aware of the actual lyric, "I made that bitch famous."'
Following the whole incident, Swift retreated from the spotlight for about a year. Then Reputation came in November 2017, featuring the song 'Delicate.'
There's also significance to Kardashian choosing that song of all the tracks on the album. 'Delicate' is believed to be about Swift's relationship with Joe Alwyn and their burgeoning romance after Kardashian's Snapchat takedown of her and end of Swift's relationship with Tom Hiddleston (one some believed was just a PR stunt, although Hiddleston made it abundantly clear it was very real to him). But the very first line of the song alludes to her public image after the Kimye feud: Swift sings, 'This ain't for the best/My reputation's never been worse, so/You must like me for me…' Kardashian picked a song about Swift's recovery from her 2016 drama with Kimye and put it on the platform Kardashian once used against Swift. Kardashian's promoting Swift's music, yes, but also once again sending the message that there's no drama on her end anymore.
Of course, Kardashian said that much two years ago in September 2016, just two months after the July Snapchat release. 'Ugh, do we really have to talk about Taylor Swift? I'm so over it,' she told Billboard in its cover story of her. 'It wasn't even about a look or anything, or to have this feud—it was like, "Okay, here's the truth." Done. Let's all move on. I feel like I don't want to talk about her anymore.'
