Beyoncé is one of the biggest-selling artists of the 21st century, the most Grammy-nominated female artist ever, the first act in history to have six consecutive albums debut at number one in the US and has headlined both Coachella and Glastonbury.

But, despite having a list of a career achievements that could fill an encyclopedia, there's one outstanding goal Queen Bey wants to tick off, according to... Michael Caine.

The 85-year-old actor worked with Beyoncé in 2002's Austin Powers film Goldmember, she played Foxy Cleopatra and him Austin's father Nigel Powers.

According to Caine, he and Beyoncé had a chat about her future ambitions at the time.

'I knew she was a singer,' he told Rolling Stone in a new interview. 'I asked her one day, "What do you want to do with your life, Be-yons?" I always called her "Be-yons". And she said, "I want to win the Academy Award for acting".

'She was very good in the movie, a very competent actress,' he continued. '... and I thought she could get somewhere with this. She's gone far beyond my world. She's so big now.'

Let's firstly address that Caine made up his own nickname for the superstar and still confidently uses it 17 years later. Ok, cool.

In recent years, Beyoncé's focus has continued to be making incredible music, churning out agenda-setting, record-breaking albums like Lemonade and selling out venues across the world as part of her On The Run II tour with husband Jay-Z.

The couple's most recent work, The Carters, Everything Is Love was their first ever joint album, and has received three Grammy nominations. She's also launched multiple projects and ventures including the successful Ivy Park clothing line and, in her personal life, has started a family, welcoming eldest daughter Blue Ivy in 2012 and more recently twins Sir and Rumi in 2017.

However, Beyoncé has proven acting is part of her triple threat on several occasions since that very first film role in the Austin Powers franchise.

She's starred in more films like The Pink Panther, Cadillac Records and most memorably as Deena Jones in Dreamgirls in 2006. Her most recent albums have also featured music videos for every track which she's acted in and directed in order to weave compelling stories and narratives through her music (Lemonade was nominated for four Emmys).

We'll also see (or more, correctly, hear) Beyoncé later this year when she voices the role of Nala in the Lion King remake opposite Donald Glover.

Given the artist's record of slaying absolutely everything she touches, we'd confidently bank on 20-year-old Beyoncé's Oscar dream coming true.

Just you wait.
