Last night's SAG Awards 2019 were as eventful as ever. Timothée Chalamet read a book, Black Panther took home the biggest prize (fingers crossed for the Oscars) and Emily Blunt made everyone cry.

And then Bradley Cooper decided to turn up without wife Irina Shayk. The model, who shares one-year-old Lea with the actor, usually accompanies him on the red carpet and was his date for the 2019 Golden Globes earlier this year.

Why the no show? Shayk has her own career, of course, and is currently shooting a campaign for Marc Jacobs Beauty and Sephora in Moscow, Russia.

Instead, Cooper chose to bring someone else very special along as his date for the SAGs – his mum, Gloria Campano.

The pair walked the red carpet hand-in-hand before posing for a slew of pictures over dinner, where they were seated next to Cooper’s co-star Lady Gaga and her fiancé Christian Carino.

And while everyone was busy praising Gaga and Cooper's recent stage performance chemistry, it was the sweet comfort with which he behaved towards his mother at the SAG Awards that gave us the warm and fuzzies.

A Star is Born received four nominations in total, but Cooper and Gaga missed out on the Leading Actor and Actress awards to Rami Malek and Glenn Close.

Sam Elliott also failed to pick up Supporting Actor, while the film itself lost out on Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture to Black Panther.

The snub comes days after the Oscars failed to acknowledge Cooper for Best Director.

Days later Gaga praised her co-star, telling the Los Angeles Times: 'At the end of the day, he knows that he’s the best director in my eyes, and in all of our eyes as his cast.

'I know that he’s so happy that we’ve all been nominated and that the film was recognised and we all feel really, really beyond elated for the recognition.'

Still, who better to comfort you when you've lost out? Shouts to Gloria.
