This week has been a good one. Firstly, the entire Beckham family turned up to support mum/fashion designer Victoria. Secondly, Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom announced they were officially engaged.

In true romantic definitely-not-cliche fashion, Bloom popped the question on Valentine's Day. Now, three days later, more and more details about the proposal are being released.

According to a report from People, Bloom had the proposal in the works for some time.

'Orlando had planned this for a while,' a source close to the couple told the outlet. 'He wanted it all to be special.'

The source also added that Bloom asked Perry's more religious and traditional parents for their permission before popping the question.

'Katy’s family knew he was proposing. He talked to her parents about it before.'

The source continued, 'Katy was very surprised and shaking with happiness...They both want kids together and will prioritise this.'

The magazine also reports that Katy will be ‘slowing down’ her career for a while and may be returning to full-time education for a while.

Katy, 34, has touched on the subject of success in previous interviews.

'A lot of people go who have already had success in their careers at 45, and they’re like, ‘Well, what the f*** do I do now?’ she said. 'That was interesting, because it would be very Harry Potter for me.'

Orlando and Katy first got together at the beginning of 2016, and were rumoured to be engaged that November but broke up in March 2017.

The flower engagement ring that Bloom gave Perry isn’t traditional looking, but it seems to be Bloom's engagement ring style of choice. E! noticed that the ring Perry got is pretty similar to the one Bloom gave his ex-wife Miranda Kerr when they got engaged in 2010. Both have a centre stone with diamonds around them. Read more here.
