Angelina Jolie has once again said that she might run for office in the future. The actress, who is an activist and United Nations’ High Commission special envoy, is not ruling out a career in politics.

'Never say never!' she told People when asked if she will ever consider running for US presidency. '[But] right now I am looking to others for leadership.'

Jolie called for governments to right laws that treat people like 'second class citizens'. The Maleficent star has previously spoken out about justice for refugees and women in conflict zones.

'I try to speak for what I believe in,' she said. 'If you look across the world, there are far too many women and girls who are not only not seeing progress, their rights are slipping away from them.'

'So one of the things we are putting forward now is a proposal for a permanent international body to investigate war crimes, including mass rape and other sexual and gender-based violence.'

This is the second time that Jolie has hinted at a future in politics. In December 2018, she told the BBC's Today programme that it's something she's thinking about.

'Honestly, if you asked me 20 years ago, I would’ve laughed,' Jolie said. 'I really don’t know, I always say I’ll go where I’m needed. I don’t know if I’m fit for politics, but then I’ve also joked that I don’t know if I have a skeleton left in my closet, so I’m pretty open and out there. I can take a lot on the chin, so that’s good.'
