Before Meghan Markle and Prince Harry hosted Kate Middleton and Prince William at their new home, Frogmore Cottage, over Easter, the couple hosted the Queen herself. The Sun's royal reporter Emily Andrews wrote that before April 21 (Easter Sunday), Queen Elizabeth II was the very first person to visit the couple in the Windsor home she gave them as a gift.

“Her Majesty wanted to formally welcome the Sussexes to their new home so she was their first visitor," a royal source told Andrews. “After all, they’ve practically moved into her back garden. She visited with other family members and Harry and Meghan were delighted to show them round. The Queen was at Windsor Castle at Easter and wanted to see Meghan before she has the baby.”

The Queen was joined by Prince Harry, along with his brother and sister-in-law, on Easter at St. George's Chapel, where the royal family attended Easter service. It was also the Queen's birthday.

Meghan did not attend, as the Duchess of Sussex is due any day with her first child. But her attendance at the service had been up in the air that Friday, depending on her condition. A royal source told Entertainment Tonight then that Meghan going to Easter service was a "wait and see" type thing.

Meghan and the Queen are said to have a close relationship. Us Weekly reported in March that Elizabeth really, really likes Meghan. “Meghan and the Queen come from two very different backgrounds and generations,” a source said. “But there’s a warmth between the two that is genuine and loving. Whenever they’re together, they always have a giggle."

The Queen is particularly interested in Meghan's perspective on global issues and current events. “She seems really interested in hearing Meghan’s thoughts on the world," the source furthered.
