Jada Pinkett-Smith's groundbreaking social media series Red Table Talk combines three generations of her high profile family with influential celebrity guests, having unshrinking conversations on often stigmatised subjects that many would baulk at.

On the Facebook talk show, Jada is joined by her 65-year-old mother Adrienne and 18-year-old actress/singer daughter, Willow, as they navigate sensitive topics such as interracial adoption, polyamorous relationships, child marriage, white privilege, pornography and self-harm.

Guests aren't always familiar faces, but comprised of women and men from all walks of life who have a story to share.

Jordyn Woods - who is a long-time family friend of the Smith family - famously gave her interview post-Tristan-Thomas-scandal to Jada on Red Table Talk, giving Jordyn the opportunity to share her side to the highly-publicised story.

Other star guests have included Sex and the City's Kristin Davis, and husband/father/son-in-law/Hollywood superstar Will Smith.

Speaking to Cosmopolitan UK, Jada revealed that while the Duchess of Sussex would be a "wonderful" guest', she suggested that now probably wouldn't be the best time for Meghan to open up.

She also reacted to the misogynistic and racist abuse foisted against Meghan from the UK press and trolls on social media.

Meghan would be a wonderful guest. I don't know if it would be time for her right now. You know what I mean? Considering her position. In her position, those are things you have to manage with grace.
We've watched Michelle Obama deal with the same things [abuse and intrusion from the media], and now that Michelle is in a different position, she can speak about certain things now, right? But when she was the First Lady, no. It comes with the territory.

Jada added that Meghan is holding herself up with dignity against the tide of criticism and scrutiny that she has faced in her position as a member of royalty.

'She looks like she's doing just fine to me,' Jada continued. 'She knows what it is. She'll figure it out, that's for sure, and she wouldn't be in that position if it wasn't meant, if she wasn't built for it. She'll be fine and so she's doing great.'

Jada's discussion show also aims to dismantle the judgement and shame that women are so susceptible to, and which is often directed by other women.

'It's so bad!' Jada exclaimed. 'I was just telling someone the other day, we will hold men's feet to the fire in regards to respect and treating us well, but I want to tell you, I have seen how we as women will treat each other, shame each other. If men did that! It's a trip.

'As women, we also judge ourselves so much. We carry so much judgement so much shame, about so many things and that's part of the reason why it's like, "let's put it on the table". How do you feel about your body?

'Are you watching porn? Are you having a polyamorous relationship? Let's get to it, what's happening? So we can get rid of some of this shame, because this is ridiculous. You don't have to feel that way. And we're going to talk about it and see how other women out here are doing.'

The show's essence is to breakdown gender double standards, and to comfortably approach subjects that are still treated as taboo.

'I feel like this is a day and age where we as women are really trying to figure out what we are,' she explained.

'And I feel like we need to have so much communication about so much to figure out what our truth, is because other truths have forever been poured into us of what we're supposed to be, that is not necessarily our own.

'So how do we start to claim truths that are our own? We have to start having those difficult conversations about sex, marriage, motherhood, womanhood, friendship, you name it, everything. And so I always knew we had to dive into those subject matters that are taboo and not always easy to talk about.'

New episodes of Red Table Talk coming September, exclusively on Facebook Watch.
