Meghan Markle And Prince Harry 'Mentor' Teen During Surprise Zoom Call

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are making sure to practice what they preach and have reportedly surprised a teen during a mentoring session in celebration of Women's History Month.

In honour of the month, the couple have championed and encouraged others to 'unleash a groundswell of real acts of compassion' via their Archewell Foundation website and provided a helpful guide with suggestions on how to do just.

One suggestion listed on the website is to tutor a teenage girl who is navigating high school on her computer. And it appears the couple have listened to their own advice.

According to People, during a recent Zoom call set up by the volunteer organisation L.A. Works and the 'I Have a Dream' Foundation, Markle and Prince Harry appeared on screen as mentors to an unexpected teen.

The charities, which work to ensure children have the opportunity to pursue higher education, set up the call with the Duke and Duchess, who made sure to impart some wisdom to their mentee, according to L.A. Works Executive Director Deborah Brutchey.

Brutchey reportedly said that the young woman on the call was 'really moved' by the couple's 'compassion, humility and wisdom'.

She added: 'It was really significant for her because they saw her potential in a few short minutes, which actually really undid some damage that had been previously caused by a former teacher's doubt.

'It was just amazing how they were able to connect and how their compassion, in just a short conversation, really made an impact and is going to forever inspire her.'

The mentorship advocate also explained that the teenager's chat with the Sussexes went beyond just a conversation about school.

'The conversation that they had was really about how do you overcome challenges in your life? And how do you stay true to your values? Things that are so relatable to young girls but also so public in what the Duke and Duchess have gone through,' Brutchey noted.

People also reported that Markle and Prince Harry even went as far as to notice that the young woman had sunflowers in her room and, as a sweet gesture post-call, later sent the teenager sunflowers with an encouraging note.
