Millie Bobby Brown announced her engagement to Jake Bongiovi (the model son of American rockstar Jon Bon Jovi) in April 2023. The pair, who are aged 20 and 21 respectively, first met via Instagram, before becoming friends IRL and eventually starting a romantic relationship in June 2021.

In March 2024, Brown revealed some of the details of their engagement while appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. 'Basically, Jake and I bonded over diving. We love diving,' she said, before explaining how he insisted they went on an 8am dive while on holiday. 'He gives me, like, a shell and I, like, turn it over and it’s a ring,' she said, adding that she had to reply with a thumbs-up as they were underwater.

The couple are thought to have thrown an engagement party in June 2023, when hairstylist Pete Burkill shared an image of them on Instagram in front of a balloon arch and sign that read 'Mr & Mrs Bongiovi'.

The date and details of their wedding remain under wraps, but there are some insider tidbits to know in the run up:

As for wedding planning, things seem to be going surprisingly smoothly for the young couple. ‘I have loved every second of it,’ Brown told ELLE UK during a recent game of Ask Me Anything. ‘It's been really an unbelievable journey. Every time we have a new wedding meeting, Jake and I take a picture to capture the moment of the planning process. He's loving every second of it. I haven't been met with a stressful time yet, and I think that's just a reflection on how ready and excited we are to do it.’

The actor also revealed that there's an 'ongoing conversation' around whether or not she will change her surname after getting married. ‘I don't think it's that important to even think about,’ she said, adding: ‘I think I'm so excited about the big day, I haven't really thought about it. Although I am quite traditional. There's a sense of him being a part of my life and my identity still remains independent […], but he is an addition to who I am, so I think there's definitely a sense of that going into the decision making.’

In April 2024, the couple were spotted out and about in New York while seemingly taking on some babysitting duties. They took it in turns to push a young child along in a pram before stopping on a park bench to catch some spring rays. From the pictures, they look relaxed and natural around kids.

Earlier in April 2024, Brown's future father-in-law Bon Jovi made headlines for sharing his thoughts about the couple and their upcoming nuptials. 'I've gotten to know her in the last year, she works really hard, and she and Jake will grow together in their own way,' he told The Sunday Times in an interview. 'It is an accelerated version of what I went through 40 years ago and I think, with the support of family around them, they're gonna be great together.'

In May 2023, the singer also commented on the couple's young age, but was similarly supportive. 'I don't know if age matters, if you find the right partner and you grow together,' he told People.

The future family appeared on the red carpet together at the New York premiere of Damsel in March 2024. The Netflix film stars Brown as a bride who has to fight for survival when her in-laws attempt to sacrifice her to a dragon. Luckily, the premiere was a far more civilised affair, where Brown posed alongside Bongiovi, his father and his mother, Dorothea Hurley.

And one final piece of intel about the upcoming wedding? Brown told ELLE UK that Shania Twain’s ‘Man, I Feel Like A Woman’ will feature on the wedding playlist. We'd like to be on the dance floor when that one comes on...
