Selena Gomez is reportedly ‘relieved’ that she never collaborated with her ex, The Weekend, after he released his latest 'snub' single about the star.

Over the weekend, the Canadian singer - otherwise known as Abel Tesfaye – released a new EP called 'My Dear Melancholy' which seemingly referenced his 10-month relationship with Selena, her kidney transplant, and her connection with on/off love, Justin Bieber.

Following said shade, a source close to Gomez has revealed the singer-turned-actress is less than impressed with her ex’s musings.

‘Selena is relieved she never did a collab with her ex, Abel [The Weeknd]. After his latest diss track, she feels pretty burned by him right now, and she questions the sincerity of his love and their relationship,’ a source told HollywoodLife.

‘Selena is grateful they never released some of the ideas they had tossed around for a track together. She is disappointed at his level of pettiness and is glad she doesn’t have a big hit song with him to remind her of their relationship,’ our source continued.

During their relationship, it was widely believed a musical collaboration between Abel and Selena was on the cards.

The Wikipedia page of songwriter/producer Max Martin – who has collaborated on tunes for the likes of Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Celine Dion, Katy Perry, Usher and Taylor Swift – originally gave a clue as to Gomez's number one choice when it came to collaborating on her up-coming single, 'In Her Element'.

The page listed Nicki Minaj, Ryan Tedder (of One Republic fame) and Selena Gomez as songwriters on the track but also named – yeah, that's right – The Weeknd as a co-artist. 'In Her Element' (featuring The Weeknd)' reads the caption.

However, months later the ‘Bad Liar’ singer told hosts at Boston's 103.3 AMP that a musical collab wasn’t in the near future for the pair.

When asked if she’d be making sweet sweet music with her then beau, Gomez replied: 'No, no we're not.’

When asked for more details, she added: 'I can't give those people what they want. I'm sorry, and it's not true.'

News of Gomez’s unhappiness with The Weeknd’s latest musical endeavour come amid reports Justin Bieber - who is on a break with Gomez at the moment - misses his leading lady.

A source tells People that Bieber still feels the same way about Gomez, and hopes that they can rekindle their relationship for the millionth time. The source reveals, ‘He loves her. He wants her back.’

Gomez and Bieber reportedly temporarily called time on their relationship after they were first spotted after the singer’s break-up with The Weeknd in November.

So, should we take this to mean we won't be expecting a joint tour between Selena and The Weeknd anytime soon?
