The royal wedding celebrations continued late into the night on Saturday, with a private reception for 200 of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's closest friends and family.

After their St George's Chapel nuptials, carriage procession and lunchtime reception, the newlyweds drove through the Windsor estate in a Jaguar E-type as they made their way to Frogmore House, where they took part in one more wedding tradition - the first dance.

According to The Telegraph, Harry and Markle chose Whitney Houston's I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me) for the special moment at the evening party.

It had been rumoured that the couple would dance to the 1987 classic in the lead-up to the wedding. Speaking to Lifestyle Magazine in 2016, Markle referred to it as her 'happy song'.

Elton John was among the favourites at the bookmakers when it came to other first dance contenders, although Kensington Palace confirmed that the singer performed for the couple earlier in the day at the first reception for 600 guests in St George's Hall.

Markle changed into a Stella McCartney dress for the evening reception, which was attended by her friends Priyanka Chopra, Serena Williams and Jessica Mulroney. The bride also made a touching tribute to Princess Diana by wearing her Asprey Aquamarine ring to the event.

At around 11pm, fireworks reportedly lit up the sky over the 17th century country house, with the 'thud of loud music' playing out as the new Duke and Duchess of Sussex partied the night away.
