From bowling parties to cinema dates, the cast of Big Little Lies appear to be having the best time together as they film the second series of their hit show this summer.

Yesterday, Reese Witherspoon shared a snap on Instagram of herself with Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman and Shailene Woodley at the Bowl-a-Rama, captioning it: 'We work and we play!'

Meanwhile, Woodley and Zoe Kravitz shared snaps of themselves with bunny ears and viking hats drinking beer during an intense game of pool.

And this was not the first outing for the gang who, just two days earlier, had a 'night at the movies' to check out Woodley's new film, Adrift, in which she plays a woman stranded at sea during a hurricane after a sailing trip goes wrong.

Witherspoon shared a picture of herself and Woodley with fellow co-stars, Zoe Kravitz and Laura Dern, and urged people to go and see the film: 'Shailene is outstanding in a rare performance of woman vs. nature that is not to be missed. You must see this movie.'

Both Witherspoon and Kidman have previously spoken about how grateful they are to have had the opportunity to create Big Little Lies with their close female friends.

'What a journey this has been,' Kidman said as she picked up her Golden Globe for her role in the series this year. 'I’m so grateful to have this opportunity to keep exploring these female characters and make this series with my friends.'

Witherspoon meanwhile shared a post this weekend where she explained how 'lucky' she felt to be working with the cast (wearing a jumper that we need to get our hands on immediately).

Now if only we could work out how to nab an invite to the next Big Little Lies bowling party...
