Casually back-on exes Bella Hadid and The Weeknd just gave Instagram a not-so subtle heads-up that they spent some time together this past weekend. Hadid posted a photo on her Instagram story, with a date line of this Saturday, June 30, outside of The Weeknd's ridiculous £13m Hidden Hills mansion.

The Weeknd stands on the balcony in the distance, his dogs hanging below in their twin dog manors. He posted the same shot a little zoomed in on his own permanent Instagram. No one else, save the dogs, appeared to be in the shots, so make what you will of the date or non-date that followed:

Of course, Hadid and The Weeknd could have been more direct. She could've liked his Instagram or either of them could refollow the other. But this sly strategy lets them continue their slow, steadily-covered rollout of their renewed romance that may or may not last through tours and fashion weeks in the busier months ahead. A hint here in an Instagram story, a nod there with permanent grid shot, and then someday if things gets more serious the public refollowing will happen. Until then, just a tease of Abella 2.0.

But something is happening: Us Weekly reports yesterday, a day after Hadid took the photo of The Weeknd, the two had a dinner date at Matsuhisa in Beverly Hills. The two 'were snuggled in the back corner', an onlooker told the outlet, and were 'very sweet and laughing/whispering with each other'.

The Weeknd and Hadid were last spotted on a date in Paris a month ago. They both posted Instagrams of themselves in the same location as the other, so it wasn't hard to connect the dots.
