Gal Gadot has carried on the long-standing tradition of superhero movie actors putting on their costumes and taking the time to visit fans in hospital.

This week, some of the children in the Inova Children's Hospital in Annandale, Virginia, got to meet the Wonder Woman star in full costume.

Rather unsurprisingly, Gal's visit was a huge success with staff and patients, with doctors at the hospital thanking her for her time spent with them.

"Thank you Gal Gadot for visiting us at Inova Children's Hospital. You are a true Wonder Woman. The kids loved it…and so did the staff," tweeted Dr Lucas Collazo, who shared a photo of the actress with patients and colleagues.

"Dear @GalGadot – Thank you SO MUCH for visiting my patients and colleagues at #InovaChildrensHospital!" added Dr Patty Seo-Mayer, sharing the same photo.

"Next time, can you align your visit with my call schedule? Love, #SuperFan."

Gal is currently filming the sequel to Wonder Woman, titled Wonder Woman 1984 and will be set in the '80s.

Patty Jenkins is back in the director's chair, and she also wrote the script. Jenkins became the most successful female director of all time with Wonder Woman's box office success.

We also recently found out that Chris Pine's Steve Trevor would be making an appearance in the sequel – despite having presumably died in the first film.

And in an inspired bit of casting, Kristen Wiig will be joining the DCEU in this film as its villain Cheetah.

Wonder Woman 1984 is due to be released on 1 November 2019.
