Ever since Queer Eye's 'Fab Five' sashayed onto our screens earlier this year, we've been captivated by their unwavering positivity, sincerity, words of wisdom and - let's face it - Jonathan Van Ness' one-line zingers (Yaaaas, Queen!).

In helping their nominated candidates tweak their fashion, grooming, and culinary skills, the squad have also opened up about their own personal journeys to self-discovery and acceptance; from Tan France finding acceptance as a gay Pakistani man from his family, to Bobby Berk's painful experiences with religion.

In a new video posted on social media, Karamo Brown has revealed his own personal mental health journey, revealing to his followers that he attempted suicide 12 years ago.

'Hey friends, so I decided to do a quick little video about the fact that I shared that today in 2006, I did attempt to commit suicide,' he explained.

'You know, I was in very dark place. I just felt like life could not get any better. Everything that was happening to me was never going to change and I tried to take my own life.'

The father-of-two continued: 'And if it wasn't for my best friends Raymond and Tre calling the ambulance and getting me off the couch, I probably would not be here today.

I was in very dark place. I just felt like life could not get any better.

Encouraging his fans to seek help if they too are struggling with their own mental health conditions, he added: 'I know so many of us suffer from mental health issues and we just don't know where to turn and every day seems darker and darker.

'But I want you to know that things do get better. If you get help and you do the work daily, your life can change. I'm living proof of that and if you know someone in your life that's going through it, reach out to them. You could be there support.'

In response, the star's fans flooded his comments section with support, love and gratitude for his honest revelation.

'Just what i need today thank you so much,' wrote one user.

Another added: 'There is something I just love about you. I can’t narrow it down but I do know that your heartfelt genuine messages as well as your compassion for others is such a beautiful gift.'
