We have finally got our first proper look at Captain Marvel in action as the first trailer has now arrived.

Like previous Marvel trailer debuts, it was released during Good Morning America and sees Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson) meet Carol Danvers as she falls to Earth, literally into a Blockbuster Video as it's the 1990s.

Earlier this month, we got our first look at Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, AKA Captain Marvel, as well as some information about the solo movie's plot.

Captain Marvel takes place in the mid-1990s and the superhero is the first one that Nick Fury meets. When the movie begins, Carol will already have her powers and has joined an elite Kree military team called Starforce, led by Jude Law's enigmatic commander.

However, she finds herself back on Earth to battle with the Skrulls as they invade the planet with Ben Mendelsohn's Talos at the head of the army.

Captain Marvel's arrival in the MCU was teased in the post-credits scene of Avengers: Infinity War as Nick Fury was seen contacting her before he became a victim of the Infinity Snap and, recently, Marvel boss Kevin Feige explained why he got in touch with Captain Marvel.

'She is more powerful than any character we've introduced thus far,' he noted. 'So that alone tells you that there's a reason Nick hit that button at the end, when he realised that they were up against something far bigger than they had ever been up against before.'

We've already spoken about how that creates a potential continuity issue in the MCU, but we'll have to wait and see how the movie addresses it when it arrives next year.

Captain Marvel will arrive in cinemas on 8 March 2019 in the UK and the US.
