Days after supporting her boyfriend of two years, Joe Alwyn, at the premiere of his new film in London, Taylor Swift has announced she has a 'new home'.

Taking to Instagram on Monday afternoon, the 28-year-old shared a photograph of herself from Japan with the caption 'my new home' and a musical note emoji.

However, rather than share the news she's making a permanent move to her boyfriend's hometown of London, the singer's new home will actually be at Republic Records and Universal Music Group.

Announcing news that she's joined a new record label, Swift explained in a series of photos which include Chairman and CEO of Universal Music Group, Sir Lucian Grainge, and founder and CEO of Republic Records, Monte Lipman,: 'It's also incredibly exciting to know that I'll own all of my master records that I will make from now on.

'It's really important to me to see eye to eye with a label regarding the future of our industry.'

After a three-year boycott of Spotify following a dispute over artists royalties, Swift made her entire back catalogue available on the streaming service in June 2017.

The singer, who initially refused to release her 2012 album Red on Spotify, previously said that 'valuable things should be paid for'.

'It is my opinion that music should not be free,' she said at the time. And we, for one, couldn't agree more.

The Reputation later celebrated her album 1989 selling over 10 million albums worldwide last year with a surprise returning to streaming services.

Prior to this, the star had criticised Apple Music for not paying artists during its free three-month trial, provoking the company to change its policy. She subsequently also made 1989 available on Apple Music.

Explaining her decision to move from her record label of 14 years, Big Machine Records, after her contract had expired, Swift said: 'As part of my new contract with Universal Music Group, I asked that any sale of their Spotify shares result in a distribution on money to their artists, non-recoupable.'

She also thanked Big Machine Label Group president, Scott Borchetta, for believing in her and guiding her through a decade of work.

'I'm extremely grateful to get to do what I love, especially with the people I've been fortunate enough to work with.'

At the end of her heartfelt post, Tay-Tay teased fans that new music is on its way, soon. 'I can't wait to show you what I'm making next,' she signed off the post.

The news comes days after Swift made a rare public appearance with Alwyn to celebrate his new film, The Favourite.
