Pass the eggnog and a tray of Ferrero Rocher... Christmas might be about to come early following the exciting news that Kristen Stewart is in talks to star in a same-sex romantic comedy set over the festive season.

Happiest Season centres on a young woman who plans to propose to her girlfriend while at her family's annual holiday party. But that plan is upended when she discovers her partner hasn’t yet come out to her conservative parents.

The rom-com will be American Horror Story actress Clea DuVall's directorial debut, and the star has also co-written the script with actress and comedian Mary Holland.

Casting has yet to be officially announced, and despite reports that Kristen is in the early stages of negotiations for a part - according to Variety - she's already listed as a cast member on the movie's IMDb page.

The 28-year-old Personal Shopper star recently revealed that she prefers to remain ambiguous when it comes to her sexuality.

'Yeah, ambiguity is my favourite thing ever. In terms of sexuality? For sure,' Kristen told Mastermind magazine. 'And also in making films, if you perfectly answer every question, you don't allow for people to have their own experience and really indulge a thought.

'I feel the same way about how we f*ck each other. You don't want to know everything all the time.'

So true, K-Stew.

There's been a lot of hysteria of late about a possible romantic reunion between Kristen and her fellow Twilight star and former boyfriend Robert Pattinson, but she looks pretty loved-up with Victoria's Secret model Stella Maxwell at the moment.

Meanwhile, Kristen has also just completed filming a Charlie's Angels reboot directed and co-starring Elizabeth Banks.

We can't wait for both!
