Amanda Gorman has continued to bless the world with lyrical gems after reading an inspiring poem at President Joe Biden’s recent presidential inauguration.

Gorman's poem 'The Hill We Climb' (which you can read in full, here) isn't the only notable moment from the ceremony, according to the 23-year-old youngest poet laureate in US history, who appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Tuesday.

It turns out that being seated within earshot of Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, Michelle Obama and former President Barack Obama meant that the wordsmith ended up overhearing the former First Lady giving her husband a good telling off.

In her interview with DeGeneres, the poet - who recently signed with IMG Models - recalled overhearing Mrs Obama remind the ex POTUS to stick to the strict social distancing Covid-19 measures.

'[Michelle] kept yelling at Barack, "Stop hugging people! Stop getting close to people". And then when I was done, she kind of pushed him out of the way and gave me just the biggest, warmest Michelle Obama hug,' Gorman told the TV host.

The poet continued, describing what it's like to hug the former First Lady.

'When I hug her, I'm so short. My forehead is, like, in her belly button,' she joked.

'I have met Michelle a few times before, not Barack and whenever I meet Michelle I hope that she forgets meeting me, because I just want a do-over. I just want a clean slate. Like, I just want to do it right this time. But she always remembers and she's always great.'

As for her own political aspirations, the burgeoning star also spoke about her hopes of running for president one day.

'I had a math teacher who said kind of somewhat jokingly — because I was a very passionate, feisty girl, as I am today — you should run for president and I was like, "You know what? That tracks. Let's put that on the bulletin board for the future".'

During the virtual appearance, the host told Gorman: 'I want to be one of the first to give you my official endorsement.'

The White House awaits for Gorman in 2036 and we can't wait to see it.
