Andy Murray might have been kicked out of the Wimbledon quarter-finals on Wednesday, but he's continuing to win in the eyes of 23 Grand Slam-winning Serena Williams.

In a recent interview, she was praising the 30-year-old tennis player's constant support of women in the sport.

The pregnant star told ESPN show The Six: 'I do not think there is a woman player who is not totally supportive of Andy Murray.

'He has spoken up for women's issues and women's rights, especially in tennis, forever. He has done it again.

'He has such a wonderful mother, who has been such a strong figure in his life and he has done so much for us on our tour. We love Andy Murray,' she added.

Williams' comments comes days after Andy Murray slammed a reporter's question when he said that Querrey was the first US player to reach a Grand Slam semi-final since 2009, only for Murray to correct him, given the fact that Williams alone has won 12 Grand Slam titles during that time.

Earlier this week, the expectant mother also opened up to E! News about how much she's enjoying her first-time pregnancy.

'I have been really fortunate and I have had a really good pregnancy, and everything has just been really good,' she said.

'Sometimes I am walking in my house, and I'm like, "I really like being pregnant". I never thought I would say that. I am definitely [the type] that enjoys it,' she added.

However, the athlete – who is engaged to Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian – admitted she hasn't yet faced the challenges of needing a McDonald's strawberry milkshake or pickled eggs at 3am.

'I don't have the cravings,' she revealed. 'So I am a little disappointed with that. But I am OK with it because I feel like, maybe if I had the cravings, I would have a tougher pregnancy.'

'I have just been trying to eat healthy and stay fit and definitely eating healthier than I normally do. Its pretty backwards,' has added, explaining her diet normally consists of 'lots of greens, lots of vegetables" and getting proteins through 'either fish or different types of nuts and seeds'.

However, despite telling Vanity Fair she would return to the tennis court in January, the 35-year-old said there's 'no rush' when it comes to picking up a racket after she gives birth.

'If you know me, you know that I have the most unrealistic goals,' she said.

'I'm having a baby in the fall, and I am talking about playing in January. That is ridiculous! But who knows. If it happens, great, but if it doesn't happen, its not the end of the world. I am OK with that, too. Big deal, I will just keep going until the next goal!'

Having endured numerous moments of sexism during her career, such as when John McEnroe infamously said she would be ranked 'like 700 in the world' if she had to play on the men's circuit, the Michigan-born star promises that if she was to have a daughter, she would help her overcome misogynistic attitudes.

'It's something we have to deal with in our lives, and I think if it is a girl, mommy is probably one of the best people that has been dealing with it, so we will have a lot of talk about!'

Fortunately, Williams still has a long time to consider how she'll teach her child to combat sexism, as well as planning her wedding.

With rumours of a 'secret wedding' having already taken place, Serena joked: 'It hasn't happened yet, not that I am aware of!

'No, we are still waiting. There was a bridal shower, and after the bridal comes the bachelorette [party]. Which is not gonna happen right now!' she laughed, looking at her growing baby bump.

We can't wait to see what her little bundle of joy will look like.
