Jennifer Lawrence has been dominating our screens over the years, with an impressive acting CV that's earned her an Oscar.
And lately she's been working on a new role playing Elizabeth Holmes, the biotechnology entrepreneur convicted of fraud and conspiracy, in the upcoming biographical drama Bad Blood, produced by Apple TV+ and Legendary.
Director Adam McKay has now opened up to Insider about working with the 31-year-old on the film, which is currently in pre-production.
In particular, McKay explained that he's understanding of Lawrence's schedule as she is expecting her first child with her art gallery director husband Cooke Maroney.
Speaking of the first-time mum, McKay told the news outlet: 'She's about to have a baby so I'm not going to bug her right now but she's born to play that role.'
He added: 'With the voice, she said she's feeling it. She's excited.'
McKay, who directed the Sci-Fi comedy Don't Look Up, also starring Lawrence as well as Leonardo DiCaprio and Meryl Streep, also highlighted that the star is working on perfecting the distinctive voice of Holmes.
Lawrence's new role will see her depicting the infamous rise and fall of Theranos CEO Holmes, per Deadline. She is also co-producing the film, adapted from the book Bad Blood: Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley Startup, written by journalist John Carreyrou.
The expectant mum, who married Maroney in a glamorous Rhode Island Ceremony in 2019, attended by the likes of Ashley Olsen and Emma Stone, previously spoke about her feelings towards pregnancy and plans for motherhood.
Opening up about her anxiety when it comes to discussing pregnancy, she previously told Vanity Fair: 'If I was at a dinner party, and somebody was like, "Oh, my God, you’re expecting a baby," I wouldn’t be like, "God, I can’t talk about that. Get away from me, you psycho!"'
She did, however, express her desire for a private life, noting: 'Every instinct in my body wants to protect their privacy for the rest of their lives, as much as I can. I don’t want anyone to feel welcome into their existence. And I feel like that just starts with not including them in this part of my work.'
And Lawrence, whose pregnancy was confirmed by People in September last year, has also been part of the conversation around motherhood being a choice.
She has actively campaigned for women's abortion rights, in support of organisation Planned Parenthood, which was also recently praised by fellow actor Jessica Chastain.
During a women's march last year, where the Hunger Games star was joined by comedian Amy Schumer, who is a mother to her two-year-old son Gene, Lawrence held up a sign that read: 'Women can't be free if they don't control their bodies.'
As for McKay's previous discussions of Lawrence, he previously expressed his admiration for the star when addressing her role in Don't Look Up.
He wrote in a statement: 'I’m so thrilled to make this movie with Jen Lawrence. She’s what folks in the 17th century used to call "a dynamite act".'
