Fans of Bridgerton, rejoice — a new Apple TV+ period drama is here and it contains all of the high-octane drama, costumes and Regency romance we’ve been so desperately missing to love.

The Buccaneers is an eight-episode series from creator Katherine Jakeways, and is inspired by Edith Wharton’s unfinished final novel of the same name. The story loosely follows the daughters of America’s newly moneyed as they try to bag themselves an aristocrat in 1870s London.

What is the plot of The Buccaneers?

The Buccaneers revolves around a group of young American girls who, according to an official synopsis shared by Apple TV+, ‘explode into the tightly corseted London season of the 1870s, kicking off an Anglo-American culture clash as the land of the stiff upper lip is infiltrated by a refreshing disregard for centuries of tradition.

Who stars in The Buccaneers?

Mad Men star Christina Hendricks takes the helm as the show's matriarch, Mrs St George, while Imogen Waterhouse, Alisha Boe and Critics Choice Award nominee Josie Totah star as the daughters of the buccaneers in the show.
