You know the Obama presidency really is ending soon when the First Lady has already done her final interview in the White House. In her last sit-down as FLOTUS, Michelle Obama opens up to Oprah Winfrey to talk about the past eight years, helping the Trump family transition to Washington and what she has planned for the future.

This morning, CBS released two clips from their conversation. The first correlates with what many have probably been wondering since the day after the election: what did she and Melania Trump talk about during that meeting at the White House?

When Oprah asked if the First Lady gave Melania any advice, FLOTUS explained:

"We talked about the kids, you know, but my offer to Melania was, you know, was you really don't know what you don't know until you're here, so the door is open, as I've told her and as Laura Bush told me, and as other first ladies told me. So I'm not new in this 'going high' thing, I mean I'm modeling what was done for me by the Bushes. And Laura Bush was nothing but gracious and helpful, and her team was right for my team, all throughout this entire eight-year process."

"Your team is doing the same," Oprah commented. FLOTUS agreed and continued:

"We will do whatever they need to help them succeed. So that's one of the things I said to Melania. When you get to a place when you can digest all this, and you have questions―because, you know, you don't have questions the day after the election. It's just sort of like, you're looking around the house and it's like, 'Well what do you want to know?' And it's like, 'I don't know what I should know.' And I knew that, so my door is open. That was really the nature of the meeting."

However, the conversation wasn't all about looking ahead. During the Q&A, Obama reflected on a time back in 2007, when her husband had just begun his campaign for president, when she was labeled as an "angry black woman."

"That was one of those things that you just sort of think, 'Dang, you don't even know me.' You know? You just sort of feel like, 'Wow. Where did that come from?' And that's the first blowback 'cause you think, 'Wow that is so not me.' But then you sort of think, 'Well this isn't about me—this is about the person or the people who write it.' That's just the truth," FLOTUS recalled of her initial reaction.

"And then you start thinking: Oh wow, we are so afraid of each other. Color. Wealth. These things that don't matter still play too much of a role in how we see one another. And it's sad, because the thing that least defines us as people is the color of our skin, is the size of our bank account. None of that matters, you know this," she said to Oprah, who agreed.

"It's our values, it's how we live our lives," the First Lady continued. "You can't tell that from somebody's race, somebody's religion. People have to act it out. They have to live those lives. So that was the blowback, and then I thought, 'Okay, well let me live my life out loud.' So that people can then see and then judge for themselves."

The First Lady's moving words didn't just apply to her own life; she used it as a way to inspire the young people of this country too. "And that's what I want young people to do," she added. "Just live your life. Live it out loud."

And once again the First Lady's words have moved us viscerally.
