After debuting the first official poster and release date, HBO has released the first teaser trailer for Game of Thrones' upcoming season. The clip was released on the show's official Twitter account shortly after the season 7 premiere date was revealed via Facebook Live. "The great war is here," the caption reads.
Although the preview doesn't physically show any of the main characters, it includes some poignant lines they've uttered throughout the series, and perhaps a few from next season that we haven't heard yet.
Meanwhile, the visuals showcase stone renderings of the house sigils for the warring families—a three-headed dragon for Targaryen, a stag for Baratheon, a wolf for Stark, a lion for Lannister. They ultimately crack and crumble to pieces, falling into a swirl formation reminiscent of the corpse patterns the White Walkers leave behind after a killing.
We also see a flash of green wildfire at the mention of Cersei's name, and a frosty blue eye at the end of the trailer—another White Walker motif. "There's only one war that passes: the great war," Jon Snow's voice says in the background. "And it is here."
