This summer is all about upping your life experience, so go to a festival that is about more than just the music

Go hiking at… Green Man Festival, Brecon (18-21 August)

Line-up: Belle and Sebastian, James Blake, Wild Beasts

Where else can you climb a mountain by day and dance in a field by night? Pack your hiking boots and spend time between music sets exploring the hills around the Brecon Beacons in Wales.

Go wild swimming at… Latitude Festival, Suffolk (14-17 July)

Line-up: The Maccabees, The National, New Order

The ultimate cool gathering: an eccentric crowd gather in the picturesque grounds at Henham Park, with a beautiful lake for swimming. Necessary items: gold glitter, multiple floral headdresses and your bikini.

Meet a fashion influencer at… Port Eliot Festival (28-31 July)

Line-up: Erol Alkan, Bo Ningen, Vangoffey

The stylish and the fashionable descend on this thoroughly British fete, complete with bunting and a 'food and flora' stage. Expect talks from costume designer Sandy Powell and writers Olivia Laing and Decca Aitkenhead, alongside an art show from the eclectic Noel Fielding.

Go on a beach holiday at… Festival No. 6, Portmeirion (1-4 September)

Line-up: Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, Bastille, Hot Chip

If Whole Foods did festivals, this would be it. Swap your lukewarm Red Stripe beer for an energising matcha blend on the beach and don't bother packing a tent – only a pop-up boutique hotel will do.

Go Eating at... Wilderness Festival, 4-7 August

Line-up: Lianne La Havas, Crystal Fighters, Shura

Our current obsession with all things culinary will invade festivals this year with more than 2,000 street food vendors heading to a field near you. Food lovers will head to Wilderness this year as the site will be home to a spoken-word venue called Kitchen Tales with 15 famed chefs including Raymond Blanc and Skye Gyngell creating bespoke menus.
