The Queen's Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace is an annual tradition enjoyed by all members of the family, including the very youngest generation.

Prince George, who is said to be particularly excited about Christmas, could be seen making his way to the royal party with his parents the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and his uncle Prince Harry on Tuesday.

Although she wasn't pictured, the Telegraph reports that Princess Charlotte was also spotted sitting in the back of the Range Rover next to her mother, Kate.

The Cambridges weren't the only ones to get in the party spirit. Many other royals, including the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, Zara Tindall and her husband Mike, plus Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, were also seen driving to the Palace.

The event marks the royal family's start of the festive season before the Queen leaves London for Sandringham in Norfolk. It's also a chance for extended members of the family, who won't be with the Queen on Christmas Day, to catch up.

It's likely that Harry, William and Kate were making the most of their time together as a family. While Harry is expected to join his grandmother at Sandringham, the duke and duchess will be spending Christmas with the Middletons at their home in Berkshire this year.
