There was a benefit performance on Monday night at the Stonewall Inn, for Newtown Action Alliance, in New York and Cate Blanchett came along to lip-sync her heart out.
In Givenchy, no less.
She also got on stage to perform Adele's 'Hello' complete with pink pussy hat.
The Stonewall Inn is a historic LGBT-friendly space since the late 60s.
It was the site of the Stonewall riots of 1969, which were an important catalyst in the the Gay liberation movement of the 70s.
Cate famously played Carol in the eponymous movie that followes a lesbian love-affair in the 1950s.
She has spoken multiple times about how frustrating playing a character of a sexual minority can be.
When asked by PinkNews whether she had been in a relationship with a women before she answered, 'Yes, many times.'
She explained the answer to The Guardian,
'Look,' she says, rolling her eyes at the memory, 'I also just played Mary Mapes, who's a journalist. No one asked me how long I'd been to journalism school. If I played someone who has an affair, I think a reporter would probably think twice before asking, 'Ooh, how many affairs have you had?' It would be a slightly delicate area. But there are no holds barred about asking me whether I've had relationships with women. And so I facetiously said, 'Oh yes, I've had many relationships with women' – because frankly, who hasn't? Of course I said it in inverted commas. But the inverted commas didn't make the page.
