A Florida man was arrested on February 2 one block from a Lana del Rey concert in Orlando and charged with 'Aggravated Stalking with a Credible Threat and Attempted Kidnapping with a Weapon,' according to an Orlando police report. It is believed that the man, Mitchell Hunt, was planning an attempt to kidnap del Rey during or after her concert that evening; he was in possession of a knife.
Hunt regularly posted about his obsession with the singer on Facebook, where his personal page is still set to public view. On the day of the alleged attempt, Hunt posted the following message: 'Well folks I can barely touch the electronics anymore it's probably my last day on Facebook. I hope to see y'all on the walk about in your life be good and I'll see you on the other side everybody take care of yourself may God bless xoxo.' On February 1, the day before the alleged attempt, he posted pictures of del Rey with captions like 'I love you so much I've missed you for so long.' He also alluded to selling all of his possessions and cryptically posted, 'I'm giving everything up to follow my dream.' It was this unusual social media behaviour that led someone to tip off the police.
Hunt, who has previously been arrested five times for crimes including burglary, grand theft auto, and forgery, was stopped by police and arrested before he could reach the Amway Center, where del Rey was set to perform. The singer was later made aware of the attempt and tweeted, 'Hey kiddos. I'm doing fine thanks for the messages' before expressing excitement for her next show in Atlanta.
