From quality time spent in the kitchen with family to those 30 minutes of solitude before the world wakes up, it’s often the small moments that can make even an average workday feel special.

On prioritising family moments…

‘In these lockdown times, we’ve been spending most evenings at home – just me, my husband and our two kids. Dinner is the time when we catch up and relax. Afterwards, once we’ve got the kids to sleep, my husband and I usually have a couple of hours where we either talk and have a glass of wine, or just watch a movie. We try to keep our time without kids work-free. A lot of people work late in the evenings, but we try to prioritise some couples’ time every night.’

On the joy of cooking…

‘To me, cooking is a type of meditation – I really enjoy it. One of my favourite things about it is that you start off with an empty kitchen table and within half an hour you have bowls full of food. We prioritise a nice homemade dinner every night, even though it can be hectic to cook with two small kids.’

On using jewellery to make an impact…

‘I always love to dress up, and these days I’m focusing on accessories – like putting on a beautiful necklace and some lipstick for a Saturday dinner. I love the playful and unexpected shapes of the Georg Jensen Moonlight Grape pieces. They make a statement but are still classic, and go well with everything from a simple grey tee to a beautiful dress.’

‘I’ve always been a jewellery kind of girl, and I almost feel naked if I don’t wear any. To me, jewellery is the perfect way to personalise an outfit’ - Trine Kjaer

On creating a haven at home…

‘Our home is our sanctuary. We’ve spent the past year creating a real zen vibe, where we can be safe and relax. The best days are when it’s sunny and we have all the doors open, so we can see our olive trees when the transparent curtains move in the wind.’

On using her outfit to express herself…

‘My clothing and jewellery choices show people how I feel that particular day – my look is a reflection of my current mood. My style is uber-simple: I love neutrals and linens, basics that are chic and timeless. I then use jewellery to dress up my look, to take it to the next level.’

On jewellery shaping her identity…

‘My jewellery often ends up as a kind of uniform, a permanent clue to my identity. I’ve been loving the feel of the Georg Jensen Moonlight Grapes collection, with its round surfaces. There’s something extremely therapeutic about the shapes and I often find myself playing with the bangles when deep in thought. It’s the type of jewellery that you can wear often as an everyday luxury.’

On embracing the day…

‘When I wake up in the morning, I try to get up early enough that I have 30 minutes on my own to drink my morning coffee, look out of my window and embrace the new day. I find a calm morning really makes my day so much better. The weekends are the best, when I actually have both the energy and the time for a coffee, going for a run, a proper breakfast and a drive to the countryside to feel the fresh air.’

On using jewellery to elevate her weekend wardrobe…

‘I’m usually in a tracksuit or leggings during the weekends, so it’s actually the accessories that get to be the focus. So I’ll either wear a lot of rings together or several gold necklaces in various lengths to add a cool touch to a sporty outfit. I love the personal vibe it gives to the entire outfit.’

On fashion being more than just a job…

‘Getting dressed is really important to me. When I was little, I had a very clear idea of what I liked and what felt comfortable, and it was impossible to get me to wear something I didn’t want to. So feeling this way doesn’t have anything to do with me working in fashion – I’ve always been like that. I often walk around imagining how I can pair things together and what will look cool. Then I try it on to see if I like it and if I feel comfortable.’

‘The jewellery I’ve received as presents from my loved ones connects me to them, especially when they’re not physically around me, and I just love that feeling’ - Thora Valdimarsdottir
