I don't want to big up my role in the latest Bridget Jones film (released 16 September).
I'm literally in one scene when Bridget goes to a spinning class.
Which will probably amount to roughly 7 seconds of screen time for me.
But...I did learn quite a lot after the day of filming.
Here's what I now know about Bridget Jones (and by proxy Renée Zellweger) that I didn't know before.
It takes a lot of people to film a spinning class
There's a scene where Bridget goes to a spin class.
I'm riding on the bike right next to her.
That scene alone probably took 7 or 8 hours to film.
It was amazing to see how much goes into getting just one scene of a film ready and how many people are involved.
Number 1 has landed
We had to practise the routine several times before Renée got there (I heard a security guard walk past me saying 'Number 1 has landed, number 1 has landed' when she did actually arrive!).
Renee was telling me she's quite the Soul Cycle devotee in real life so her spinning skills are pretty pro.
But obviously as Bridget, she has to act like she has no clue what she's doing.
Renée Zellweger takes her English accent very seriously
Renée was really lovely and had a laugh and a joke with us between takes.
I was chatting to her and she kept the British accent up even during down time; she said it's just too confusing to keep switching in and out.
We weren't allowed to take any pics or tell anyone where we were that day and anything to do with the script and plot was kept very under wraps, so I can't wait to see it and see how that scene plays into the whole thing.
All in all, the day was more exhausting than teaching my usual spin class, but great.
I'm now just awaiting my Academy Award nomination.
