Bridgerton Cast: A Full Guide To The Darlings Of Netflix
Including where you might have seen Phoebe Dynevor, Ruth Gemmell and Ajoah Andoh before...
As far as TV escapism goes, few do it better than Shonda Rhymes' Bridgerton, which first graced our screens in the midst of one of many government-mandated lockdowns in December 2020.
The Regency-era show, whose first season was based on the The Duke and I novel by author Julia Quinn and the second was informed by her novel The Viscount Who Loved Me, depicts the relationships, marriage proposals, family secrets, sex lives, scandals and general goings on of a high society inner circle antagonised by a Gossip Girl-esque newsletter, written by a pseudonymous Lady Whistledown who threatens to spill all of their secrets. The long-awaited third installment of the series is based on the fourth book in Quinn's series, Romancing Mister Bridgerton, and focusses on Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) as she finally begins to give up her crush on Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) after hearing him disparage her to his friends last season.
Aside from the delicious escapism, the premise and storylines, the success of the show is down to several other factors too, with the Bridgerton cast being lauded for its diversity (a rare, and overdue, achievement for a period drama) and for introducing a largely unknown cast to audiences. With just a small offering of famous names in the initial cast (hello, Julie Andrews), the show has managed to dominate TV and pop culture and has set a new precedent for nurturing new talent while doing so.
So, who are the actors in the Bridgerton cast? This is everything they've been up to since the first season aired and ahead of the third season's debut in June 2024. Here's everything you need to know:
