7 films to add to your must-watch list this autumn:
The Imitation Game
This film stars our December cover star Benedict Cumberbatch and Keira Knightley, which, if were honest, is all the convincing of its merits we need. The storyline in a nutshell? Mathematician Alan Turing (Cumberbatch) helps to crack the enigma code during World War II.

Pride
A big-hearted comedy about a group of gay and lesbian activists who support miners during their strike in 1984. Bill Nighy and Dominic West lead the cast of brilliant Brits.

The Riot Club
A cast of extremely attractive men (Max Irons, Sam Claflin and Douglas Booth) play the rather despicable members of an infamous university boys' club. Both appealing and horrifying.

The Equalizer
Inspired by the classic 1980s TV show – Chloe Moretz plays an innocent girl under the control of scary Russian gangsters. Denzel Washington is good-guy-McCall, aka The Equalizer. All the trappings of an engaging thriller.

This Is Where I Leave You
Four grown-ups return to their family home when their father dies. A bleak premise but it stars Jason Bateman, Tina Fey and Adam Driver, so it’s a comedy. Expect all the laughs.

Maps To The Stars
A remarkable Hollywood satire, directed by David Cronenberg, starring the inimitable Julianne Moore (her performance is astonishing), alongside Robert Pattinson and Mia Wasikowska.

Adapted from Cheryl Strayed’s bestselling memoir about a young woman who embarks on an epic 1,100-mile solo hike in a bid to overcome tragedy. Reese Witherspoon plays Cheryl and has also produced the movie – it’s bound to be moving.
