ART: Mac Conner: A New York Life
Mad Men fans, brace yourselves: we may have just found the original Don Draper. From April onwards, the House of Illustration is showcasing the distinctive work of Mac Conner, a commercial artist who helped shape the image of 1940 to 1960s America. Mac Conner’s brilliant hand-painted illustrations graced the ad and editorial pages of all the best US magazines, and now you can check them out for yourself.

THEATRE: Sweeney Todd
The much anticipated production of Stephen Sondheim’s musical, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street- is showing at the English National Opera this weekend.
In this ghoulish thriller, Byrn Terfel stars as the bloodthirsty barber, whose desire for vengeance for being deported wreaks havoc across 19th century London. With partner–in- crime Mrs Lovett (ELLE- favourite Emma Thompson), he slits victims’ throats before cooking the chopped-up bodies in meat pies to sell in her shop. Delightful.
If you're on the front rows, watch out for stray flakes of pastry flung your way.

DRINK: London’s Regent Street Easter Cocktail Hunt
Forget chocolate eggs. Okay, I didn’t say that. But what better way to celebrate the Easter holidays than with a hunt which involves both chocolate AND a few sneaky cocktails?
Six restaurants in and around Regent Street, including Brasserie Zédel, Momo and Mash, are taking part until April 12. Expect inventive concoctions like the Cadbury Crème Egg Martini, the Tiramisu Flip and the Bunny Boiler Maker, which sound almost too good to drink. Almost.

FILM: While We’re Young
Noah Baumbach’s latest stars Ben Stiller and Naomi Watts, playing married forty-somethings stuck in an midlife crisis and entranced by the bohemian lifestyle of younger couple Jamie and Darby. Judging from the rave reviews, this is not one to miss, and did we mention that our GIRLS favourite character, Adam Driver is in it? We can’t wait either.

MUSIC: The Sunshine Underground
Noughties indie dance band The Sunshine Underground play The Garage, this Friday. Best known for Border and Put In Your Place, they’ve been on and off the scene touring the UK since releasing their latest album last year, and with only two dates left, tickets are sure to sell fast.

FILM: Women in Revolt
April 6 marks the beginning of the three-week Women in Revolt series. This showcases talented female filmmakers, such as Beryl Richards, (Chair of Directors UK), Daisy Gili, (founder of the London Film Academy), and Aurora Fearnley, (director of Pulsar), who will each present a short film about the depiction of women in contemporary culture.
