POP-UP: Hotpod Yoga Set For 16 Series
It’s finally getting cold. But this isn’t actually a bad thing. Because: 1. That ‘investment’ winter coat you bought will finally start earning its keep; and 2. Never has hot yoga suddenly seemed so appealing. The chance to cocoon ourselves in toasty heat, get bendy and help shift those January pounds? Sign. Us. Up. And even better news is that pop-up yoga supremos Hotpod are touring 16 London locations until the end of January, inviting you to get sweaty everywhere from Boxpark Shoreditch to the English National Ballet. Just think, you could even wear that coat on the way to class…

ART: Lumiere London
And Lumiere London said, ‘Let there be light.’ And there was light – light in all manner of surprising twisty, turny and dramatic forms, all over the fair city. For this is the biggest ever festival of light to be held in the capital. Ping! Leicester Square is transformed into a garden of giant illuminated plants. Ping! A Mayfair phone box turns into a glowing aquarium of exotic fish. Ping! A massive Michael Caine glows on the BAFTA building. And that’s just for starters – we command you to see the full programme of events here
14-17 Jan, 6.30pm-10.30pm; free Various locations
FILM: The Revenant
Could this be the role that finally, FINALLY wins Leonardo DiCaprio his Oscar? Whatever happens, his searing turn as a frontiersman fighting for survival in a frozen wilderness is going to get him pretty darned close. He plays Hugh Glass, a fur-trapper betrayed and left for dead after a brutal mauling by a bear. (And we do mean brutal – prepare to watch through your fingers. And maybe don’t start tucking into any snacks.) Driven by the will to see his family again, he claws his way through a landscape of frozen rock, sheer cliffs and swirling rapids… Staggering stuff.
Out 15 Jan at cinemas nationwide
MUSIC: Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide Music Awards
If there's anyone you want to tip you off on music for 2016, it's genre-smooshing, taste-making DJ Gilles Peterson. And here's a chance to find out his picks for the best underground funk, jazz, dub, house and electronica for the year ahead. Only with dancing. And drinking. NIGHTLIFE: The Cave Club
If you like your pop psychedelic and your rock tripped-out, we bear you good news. The Cave Club, the much-loved night run by The Horrors bassist Rhys Webb, has found a new home for 2016. In Hackney, would you believe? More specifically, at Moth Club, which this Saturday becomes a melting pot of garage rock, psych-pop, rhythm ’n’ blues and experimental electronics. Mr Webb himself will be spinning the underground sounds, so we suggest you turn up, tune in, wig out.
16 Jan; £6 Moth Club, Valette Street, Hackney E9 6NU
EXHIBITION: Best Art Vinyl 2015
The coolest way to listen to music isn’t on an iPod. And it certainly ain’t online streaming either. Nope, the coolest way to listen to music involves an actual, real, physical record – and vinyl sales have duly rocketed. And what’s the coolest thing about actual, real, physical records? The sleeve art, obviously. This annual prize honours the year’s best examples, taking in fine art, photography and graphic design – and 2015’s 50 finalists (including Tame Impala, Drenge and Royal Blood) are now on display at Belgraves Hotel. In your face, MP3s. Best Art Vinyl 2015, Until April; free 20 Chesham Place, Belgravia SW1X 8HQ
FOOD: Replenish Menu at Andina
So you’re in the grip of a January health kick. But this doesn’t mean that you you need to give up eating out, oh no. (After all, we’ve already given up the Twixes, that’s quite enough sacrifice.) Peruvian super-chef Martin Morales has drafted in top fitness pro Harry Jameson to help create a nutrient-packed menu for Shoreditch restaurant Andina, big on workout-boosting proteins, superfoods and smoothies. Expect: tacu-tacu butterbean pancakes, chilli-marinated chicken, chocolate and avocado mousse. Don’t expect: a Twix.
Until 31 March Andina, 1 Redchurch Street E2 7DJ
