And that's why we'd like to bring your attention to our new favourite Instagram account which is unapologetically celebrating women of all shapes and sizes, and putting a united two fingers up to anyone has ever tried to discredit their existence.
Earlier this month, Canada-based musician TiKa launched a 'bask photo series' to celebrate diversity with like-minded women.
According to Yahoo, the self-identified 'queer' artist revealed she contacted professional photographer Anthony Gebrehiwot to collaborate on a project with women of a similar shape and figure and explained:
'I had a vision of black women around me signing alongside me, but I wanted them to look like me as I've never seen fat black bodies together dressed in all white.
'It's so angelic and beautiful and soft. So I asked my beautiful fat femme sisters to join me.'
And while the photographs are undeniably beautiful, showcasing TiKa and her friends in matching white outfits and showing off their beautiful frames in Edwards Gardens in Toronto, it's the images' captions that deliver the most poignant message.
'We are everything the world hates. Fat. Black. Woman. And yet, we exist. Unapologetically and without shame. F*ck you. We love on ourselves,' reads one caption.
In another image caption of TiKa, the star writes: 'I am everything the world hates and yet, I am here. In all my glory.'
She explained to the publication: 'This photo shoot was a major "f*ck you" to anyone and everyone who has ever tried to invalidate me. I'm a human being and I matter just like everyone else. I was grateful to have friends who were brave enough to stand with me.'
On of TiKa's 'fat femme sisters' is Sashagai (Sasha) Ruddock, who took part in the project to champion uplift women regardless of race, age, size, or orientation.
'Being a black woman who is also a fat woman, I relate heavily to the struggles that women of the same community deal with. I wanted to be a part of anything that spoke to those women and encouraged those women. Representation still lacks in the media for fat black women,' she revealed.
Unsurprisingly, TiKa and her friends' images has garned a wealth of support and love from the international Instagram community, with several followers congratulating TiKa on such a beautiful and inspiring photoshoot.
'Everything about this oh, wow,' wrote one user. 'This also brought me to tears. This looks like a painting, so beautiful,' added another.
For anyone struggling to love their bodies, and more importantly themselves right now, TiKa has this to say:
'Take long breaks from social media, as it makes you question yourself, your abilities, and whether or not you're special — you are. Comparison kills. Affirm yourself in a way you feel comfortable.
'Make it a point to change the language that you use to describe yourself and take back words like "fat" and use them in positive references. Love on yourself because the world won't do it for you,' she concluded.
