While awards season typically as us in high anticipation of fresh colours, cuts and statement make-up moments, it's rare that an artist's lack of beauty motifs is enough to pique our interests; unless, it's the signature tattoos we're so accustomed to.

Last night's 66th Grammy Awards in Los Angeles saw Paris Jackson do away with over 80 of her trademark ink designs in a major beauty transformation that took hours to create. Admitting that she woke up at 5am to layer over each individual piece, the 25-year-old model, actor and singer paired her pared-back complexion with a chic, black Celine gown. A sleek and timeless red carpet ensemble.

'I wanted to give this Celine dress its own moment,' she told Extra TV. 'I love the piercings, the tattoos, all the body mod stuff, but sometimes it can distract from the art.'

'I made a friend when I did AHS a couple of years ago, Tyson Fountaine, he did my body make-up for one of the nude scenes I had,' Jackson told Access Hollywood. 'When I decided to do this with CoverFX, I wanted to call him on. I had my whole dream team; I had Tyson and Pauly Blanch for face and Miles Jeffries for hair. It was like all the people that I love putting this together.'

While the absence of Jackson's signature ink turned heads at last night's carpet, it was Doja Cat's abundance of new inkings that stole tattooed headlines this morning. From a medieval cathedral chest piece to gothic ornaments scattered across every inch of bare skin, the singer made yet another statement red carpet appearance, debuting a mass of fresh tattoos in a sheer corset gown. No need to ask who it was by; in a homage to Dilara Findikoglu, it's tattooed on her forehead.
