While I was just a twinkle in my parent's eyes (read: she had yet to enter the world), the late 70s/early 80s eras were some of the greatest when it came to experimental beauty. Think, eyeliner galore, blushed to the Gods, mullets for days and shag hairstyles to envy – the latter being pre-urban dictionary semantics, of course... And today, revitalising the infamous shaggy 'do comes Lady Gaga with a modern interpretation of the punk rock cut.

In a duo of recent Instagram posts, the singer shares sponsored 'ad' videos talking all things US medication. Alas, being the face of privatised healthcare aside, what had us admiring said face was the star's new hairstyle.

Admittedly, the look isn't all that new for Gaga, seeing as she sported a similar style late last year. However, it differs ever so slightly in length and finish, this time, bringing more of a modern twist. Enter: The relaxed wavy shag.

The chest-length shag that Gaga formerly rocked (no pun intended) was heavily tapered, veering towards a hybrid wolf cut, whereas this current look is more stretched out, creating the perfect balance of length and texture. And not only that but the singer's fringe has also had a subtle maintenance refresh, too, skimming her lashes with a long, choppy length.

Completing her look, the beauty mogul applied a thick liner to her upper and lower lashes and topped off her make-up with a rosy satin pout. Fusing the best of today's trends with iconic looks of the rock heyday! We love to see it.
