Marking an important moment in the fashion house’s 80-year history, Celine is officially entering the world of make-up.

Celine Beauté was teased in a new short film, 'La Collection de l'Arc de Triomphe', created by artistic and image director Hedi Slimane, which depicted scenes of Parisian landmarks, from La Salle Pleyel to Le Musée Bourdelle, and saw models resplendent in Sixties-inspired fashion. Among the new collection of baker boy caps and mini suits were glimmers of a bold red lipstick, a perfume and brushes, and subtle beauty references throughout, which have now been confirmed as a debut make-up line.

After Celine’s Haute Parfumerie collection which was reintroduced to great fanfare in 2019, this new move marks the brand’s first foray into make-up with a single shade of lipstick, 'Rouge Triomphe', set to launch this Autumn.

Further in January 2025, the 'Le Rouge Celine' lipstick collection will be unveiled and will feature 15 satin-finish hues, including a classic nude ('la peau nue') which was seen throughout the short film.

Embossed with the maison’s couture monogram, and instilled with Slimane's instinctive design ethos, these lipsticks have been created as both wearable art and efficacious, performance-driven products. Aesthetically speaking, there's the jewel case in gold metal inspired by haute couture fabrics and art deco, meanwhile, the formulas offer a smooth satin-like finish and have been enriched with Slimane's new olfactory style (which is central to the haute perfumerie collection), and feature an accord of rose and rice powder.

Aside from lipstick - and just to keep us on our toes - Celine will also be revealing new categories within its make-up collection each season and will comprise of everything from lip balms and mascaras, eyeliners to pencils, and even nail polish.

Celine is far from the only fashion house setting its sights on the world of beauty. This year alone, Paco Rabanne and Burberry have entered into a new beauty realm, while last year Prada Beauty debuted a collection of AI-driven foundations, eye quads and couture lipsticks.

There is both commercial and creative gain from entering into the beauty arena, so pivoting into make-up makes sense for the fashion giants aiming to bring style and innovation to our beauty bags.
