Closing couture fashion week in style, Fendi proved that its high-octane glamour is bigger, better and bolder than ever before.
The storied Italian label closed couture fashion week in style with a show that was peppered with delicate detailing and elegant embroidery, which was mirrored by its cohort of VIPs, which included Cardi B in floor-sweeping sequins, Naomi Watts in crisp summer whites and Shakira in a monochromatic two-piece.
From a palette of statement colours to a larger-than-life VIP guest list, this is everything you need to know about Fendi’s AW23 show.
The Setting:
The setting for the show was Palais Brongniart, a building built for Napoleon in the early 19th century to house the Paris stock exchange. Fluid, draped, sequinned, and sheer dresses sashayed down the Italian marble quadrangle runway to a techno remix.
The Front Row:
Lily James, Camila Cabello and Zoe Saldana were among the stars to grace the FROW at Fendi's closing show. Joining them was Shakira, Naomi Watts and Cardi B, who, in true Cardi B fashion, posed up a storm in a sequin maxi dress.
The Collection:
In the show notes, creative director Kim Jones said of his direction for the collection: 'This season, we wanted to concentrate on the achievement of fluidity, drape, and shape through couture techniques, bringing these elements together with the attitude of today. We worked on a template based on Delfina’s high jewellery. '
Italian designer Delfina Delettrez Fendi presented Fendi Triptych, her debut high jewellery collection, during the show, which featured an array of structured, boldly coloured, and draped silhouettes, accessorised with individually-designed intricate clutch bags held across models' chests.
'If there is no jewellery, the idea is still present through the colour palette and embellishment in the collection; the clothes themselves take on the idea of jewellery,' added Jones.
