How To Make The Most Of The Easter Bank Holiday Weekend In 2024
Bottomless brunches, spring fairs and cherry blossoms aplenty.
With the typical English weather we've experienced in the past few weeks, it may not yet feel like spring. One day glorious sun, the next hours of downpour. However, we can finally welcome Easter this weekend (March 29-April 1) as the days become longer and brighter, daffodil bulbs begin to bloom, and the sun slowly emerges from hibernation, providing us with some necessary Vitamin D.
That means a total of four days off from work, thanks to Good Friday and Easter Monday bookending the weekend. Whether an ideal Easter weekend means taking in nature's bloom, wandering through the latest gallery opening, a good meal with friends and family or partying, the list of ways to celebrate is endless.
For many, four days off work without having to use annual leave allowance paves the way for people to book a staycation and make the most of some time at home (read: DIY). For others, the idea of having four days without a 9-5 can be quite stressful, especially if you suffer from FOMO like us.
That's why we've rounded up the best places to visit over the bank holiday, and found the best ways to celebrate at home too if you're looking to save some pennies. There are so many ways to spend your time off and enter the new season with a bang.
Without further ado, here is our guide on how to make the most of the Easter bank holiday weekend across the UK in 2024:
Yorkshire Sculpture Park (Yorkshire)
Head to Yorkshire Sculpture Park for an art-filled Easter weekend. Wander through the fields, hills and woodlands as you take on an array of art - six outdoor galleries and over 80 sculptures to be exact. The largest sculpture park in Europe and home to some of the greatest artists such as Ai Weiwei and Barbara Hepworth, just last weekend the park opened it's doors to artist Leila Babirye's exhibition Obumu (Unity). Made from materials found at the park, feast your eyes on her beautiful and contemplative figure sculptures.

Bicester Village (Oxfordshire)
Fancy a short trip not too far out of London? Whether you're planning a day trip or a weekend stay for you and the family or with friends, this luxury shopping destination has something for everyone.
Wander through Dior's carefully curated garden, or browse through countless designer shops (with discounts up to 50%). Head to Ladurée for delicious French patisserie and La Tua Pasta for Italian dishes and keep the kids occupied with face painting stations.

Brunch at Madison (London)
Head on down to Madison for their Sunday Sundown Sessions Brunch Experience this Easter for live music and American brunch dishes with a direct view of St. Paul’s Cathedral. Indulge in dishes like Iberico ham croquettes with truffle aioli, pulled pork eggs benedict and a saffron poached pear to finish off with. Plus, there's a bottomless brunch option available too.

Spring Fair at the Horniman Museum and Gardens (London)
Embrace the season at Horniman’s Spring Fair - one of London’s most wholesome events. From live music on the band stand, to stilt walkers, to garden trails to mini-golf, this is a family-friendly extravaganza with everything your little ones could hope for.

Lambing week (Cheshire)
Head to Tatton Park to experience the cuteness overload that is lambing week. Be prepared to be surrounded by heaps of fluffy animals when Farm staff share their expertise with visitors and provide informative talks at the lambing shed. Talks throughout the week take place at 12pm and 2pm.
April 5-12
Enjoy some cherry blossom trees (UK wide)
Now is the perfect time to stretch those legs and go on walks to soak in the cherry blossoms in all their glory. There are so many parks across the UK which are decorated with the gorgeous pink trees, namely: Greenwich Park (London), The Stray (Harrogate), Sizergh Castle (Cumbria), The Meadows (Edinburgh), Trelissick Garden (Cornwall) and Dunster Castle (Somerset).
COYA Mayfair (London)
Break bread with loved ones over the Easter bank holiday in serious style, with COYA Mayfair serving up some of the best dishes in London to be enjoyed with cocktails alongside music from their resident DJs each evening. The venue is just as luxurious, too.
Mouth-watering Peruvian dishes include: miso Chilean sea bass with lime rice; Rib eye, adobo, chimichurri sauce and orange and lime churros with dulce de leche.
Passion of Jesus (London)
On Good Friday, Wintershall players return to Trafalgar Square for a free 90-minute production portraying the final days of Jesus. With two performances at 12 noon and 3:15pm, both are also translated with a BSL interpreter. Expect big crowds, and bring an umbrella just in case.
March 29
Sunday Roast at STK Stratford (London)
STK serve up the best grub in London, with their Easter Sunday roast being made up of juicy Beef Shin, Carrots, and Parsnips with a creamy side of Mac and Cheese.
From Friday April 7 to Monday April 10 you can treat yourself with their other Easter Specials, including Lamb T-Bone with green peas, mint and smoked bacon, crab devilled eggs and their must-try veal chop with caramelised onion.
Don't hold back on the cocktails either. Their signature martini is our favourite (Russian Standard Vodka, cranberry, orange sanguine, passion fruit and orange bitter), or if you like something sweeter go for the strawberry cobbler (Grey Goose, strawberry purée, lemon juice, gomme syrup.) Yum.
Easter Egg Hunt (UK wide)
First up, if you have a garden, then great, you can stick to a traditional Easter Egg hunt. If not, then how about secreting some of the confectionaries around your home for a modern approach to the traditional game.
With 2024 marking its fourth year running, Cadbury's virtual global platform which allows you to hide an Easter egg - anywhere in the world - for a family member or friend. The Cadbury Worldwide Hide allows users to choose a location using Google Maps Street View along with a personalised clue for loved ones to find the prize. Once the egg has been found virtually, you also have the option to send a real one straight to their door (UK only).
Arts And Crafts
Throw it back to childhood with an Easter bonnet or basket making competition. Using whatever you've got in your home, whether it be scraps of material, old newspaper or foil, try to fashion the very best accessory you can.
