Slowly but surely I seem to be getting the hang of these brights. Having tried a sheer, a matte, a conditioning lipstick and now a lipstick and gloss combo it’s safe to say bold is definitely on the agenda. A page in Elle’s September issue gave me inspiration – Sunset Shades beauty trend. The colour literally pops off the page so today I opted for intense tangerine shades using Model’s Own Hyper-Brite lipstick in Orangeade, £6 followed by a slick of Chanel Levres Scintillantes Glossimer in 337 £21.

The lipstick smoothes on easily and while being bold in colour it is light enough to layer a gloss on top to achieve a really polished pout. Being right on trend, Chanel’s gloss is silky and bright without being too heavy or sticky. Dennis Basso brought this hedonistic bright to New York fashion week and now I know why all those celebrities in the front row were wearing sunglasses. Throughout the day I felt this shade made a statement and I have to say it has been my favourite shade so far – maybe because it reminds me of sweets and holidays. It certainly brightened up my day.

See which lipstick shade I tried on day one, two and three...
